What’s So Great About The Cloud?

At Simple Cloud Networks, we support all cloud-managed products by Cisco Meraki, Cisco Webex, and Zoom. We love to work with the small business owner to help make the transition to the cloud simple.

This article will help simplify “the cloud” and explain why IT leaders are upgrading to all cloud-based communications.

IT leaders are switching to cloud-based unified communications for various reasons. After switching to the cloud, they have the ability to improve agility, support digital transformation, and provide access to new features.

There are many motivations to move to the cloud, let’s start with the top motivations.

  • Improved agility – this means less IT support needed, increased flexibility and scalability, and faster deployment of new capabilities
  • Reduced capital costs – this makes budgeting easier and more accurate, predictable costs, and easier allocation of costs by department
  • Faster deployment of services – this helps out everyone because there will be no more disruption to end-user services, no planning required from the IT team, and receive frequent service updates
  • Freed-up time for IT – your IT department will thank you! Reduced IT management, greater end-user self-service, and more time for IT to work on more important matter
  • Added features – integration with major cloud apps and faster access to emerging technologies
  • Overall cost savings – no more old phone systems, lower maintenance costs, and reduced capital overlay for updates and capabilities

You may be thinking that all of these motivations sound great, but what about security? Thankfully, the cloud offers huge advantages for this. It is managed 24/7 by professional staff. There are third-party audited professional security practices and strict regulatory compliance requirements that have to be followed. Also, there is a Service-level agreement (SLA) protection for service and compliance certainty. No need to worry about security.

Now that we have discussed all of the reasons why you should switch to the cloud, let’s look at our options for the transition! There are a few.

Public cloud: Applications hosted over the internet are served up by a third party. Multiple customers share a multitenant software platform using individual virtual instances. The public cloud is great for organizations that aren’t invested in existing systems and want access to affordable calling and collaboration hardware, software, and infrastructure.

Private cloud: This option is a single-tenant platform. This can be located on-premises, in an offsite data center, or with a managed private cloud provider. The private cloud helps large enterprises (banks, hospitals, etc.) that have established on-premises systems. This will help with security and control over compliance.

Cloud hybrid: With a mix of on-premises and cloud services, there are enterprise applications for calling, meeting, teams, and contact center. The cloud hybrid works well for organizations trying to save money by using existing on-premises systems, apps, and processes. This way they can still leverage emerging applications through the cloud.

There are four steps to get started with the cloud:

Step 1: Audit your current utilization and costs
Step 2: Add the cloud where it adds the greatest business agility
Step 3: Calculate the business value of using new cloud services
Step 4: Choose your best mix of cloud and on-premises options

You can integrate cloud technology into your current infrastructure or you even upgrade to a fully collaborative cloud experience. Simple Cloud Networks can help with either! Work smarter instead of harder!
